Cultural Academy organizes Kahani Goshti | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 28: J&K Cultural Academy in collaboration with Punjabi Lekhak Sabha, Jammu organized state level Kahani Gosthi here today at K.L. Saigal Hall. Savita Bakshi, Additional Secretary, Divisional Office, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in her address said that to promote all the regional languages besides patronizing art and culture is the aim of the Academy. In view of this, Academy provides financial assistance to the literary and cultural organization, besides providing subsidy in order to publish the books related to poetry, drama, novel and other art and culture work. In addition to this, Academy also organizes Best Book Award function to the best authors of the respective languages, she said. She also quoted “Surjeet Pattar” who recently was awarded with ”Gian Peeth” award in literature while putting the light on importance of Punjabi language which is spoken not only in India but has million speakers in Asia, America and Europe too. She expressed satisfaction about the work done in Jammu & Kashmir by the Punjabi writers, as it does not confine only with this state but also appreciated by the neighboring countries. Prominent Punjabi writers of the state including Khalid Hussein, Harbhajan Singh Sagar, Suriender Kour Neer, Gurdeep Kour and Amarjeet Kour Neer read their newly written short stories in the goshti. On the occasion, SR Joiginder Singh Shaan an eminent Punjabi writer was the chief guest while Khalid Hussein presided over.
