J&K Cong aghast over statements of interlocutors | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 28: Seemingly unbelievable but leaders of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) are aghast over statements made by interlocutors especially Daleep Padgaonkar and Prof. Radha Kumar during their visit to Srinagar. Seeking anonymity, several Jammu based leaders said that statements made by interlocutors embarrassed them and they have begun worrying over the confusion that has been created by utterances of the interlocutors. “Our image has suffered among people especially those belonging to Jammu region when Padgaonkar asked Kashmir university students to prepare roadmap for Azadi and Prof. Radha Kumar’s infamous comment of finding a solution even if it meant amending constitution,” said one of the leaders. Another leader said “We have conveyed our views and fears over these issues, including the recent utterances of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on state's accession with India to the party high command,” adding that “We have been advised caution.” Congress leaders even went to the extent of saying that some of their leaders from Kashmir were also taken aback by the statements of Omar Abdullah, Padgaonkar and Prof. Radha Kumar. “We have been trying to keep congress flag flying in the valley despite several odds. Whatever gains Congress had achieved in the Jammu region seem to have been frittered away by the way central ministers supported Omar's statement on state's accession with India,” added the leaders. They said that the confusion created by interlocutors is being fully exploited by BJP in its bid to regain lost ground. Another senior Congress leader criticized those party leaders who are members of the council of ministers headed by Omar Abdullah, on the plea that these ministers had neither dared nor thought it prudent to discuss the issue with the Chief Minister. At least the Congress ministers should have expressed their resentment over Omar's statement and stand taken by the interlocutors, said the Congress leader while adding that the Congress ministers preferred to remain silent fearing that any trouble for Omar could force the Congress ministers to lose power. Party leaders praised PCC Chief Saifuddin Soz for having taking a bold stand against those who were trying to question irrevocability of state's accession with India. They said that Congress high command has decided to repose trust in Soz which was evident by the way he was not touched while the AICC carried out changes in PCC in several states, including Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.
