Training programme for horticulture officers | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 28: Two days training programme for officers of Jammu Horticulture Department on “Factors affecting olive oil quality and characterization of olive oil” was conducted in the Division of Biochemistry and Plant Physiology in SKUAST-Jammu at Chatha under Horticulture Technology Mission Project on Olive. Training programme consisted of lectures, laboratory demonstrations/estimations for quality characterization of olive oil. Nine officers from Horticulture department attended the training programme. Dr A. K. Tiku and Principal Investigator of project deliberated on olive crop production technology, olive oil extraction and international standards for olive oil as per Codex alimentarius commission and international olive council. Prof. and Head, Fruit Science Dr. V. K. Wali spoke on the influence of fruit ripening on the quality of olive oil. Dr Sanjay Guleria talked on the purity and organoleptic parameters of the olive oil and their estimation in the laboratory. Dr Moni Gupta spoke on the quality parameters of olive oil and their determination in the laboratory. Manish Bakshi and Sunil Jamwal assisted the scientists in the laboratory.
