Lecture on reforms in power sector organized | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 28: Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), J&K regional branch in association with JKSERC organised a lecture on “Power Sector Reforms in J&K and Role of Electricity Regulators”. A power point presentation was made by S Maria Desalphine, Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir State Electricity Regulatory Commission. The function was presided by Dr Ashok Bhan, Chairman, J&K Regional Branch of IIPA. Lecture was largely attended by members of IIPA, Member of faculty of University of Jammu, Consumer organisations and representative of General Public besides Sr Engineers from Power Development Department. It was the first interaction of the SERC about the power sector reforms in J&K and role of regulators. The mandate of J&K SERC is to bring efficiency in the business of Power/Electricity trading i.e. generation transmission and distribution of Power in J&K. The utility responsible for supply of Power to consumers in J&K is suffering heavy losses through technical commercial, losses and theft etc. Commission within frame work of Regulation will attempt to bring down the same and ensure transparency in the business of Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution in J&K. The lecture was followed by lively discussion in which the members from the audience, raised quaries which were replied by Chairman and Er D.S. Pawar, member SERC. J.B.S.Johar, Secretary IIPA, J&K Regional Branch welcomed the participants and the members of the civil society. Vikrant Kuthiala, industrialist representing PHD introduced the subject. Vikram Gour presented the vote of thanks.
