| Interaction session on ‘Gender Sensitization’ held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Oct 28: Women Development Cell of Government MAM College on Thursday organised an interactive session on the “Importance of Gender Sensitization in Higher Education” in which the women faculty members of the college were present.
Prof. Poonam Dhawan, Director Center for Women's Studies Centre, University of Jammu, was the Resource Person. She dwelt at length about the need of Gender Sensitization in Higher Education and stressed that the objective of the Women Development Cell is to create a healthy Co-existence and gender sensitive environment in the Institutions.
She also stressed upon the facts that women are the key agents and trend setters of the system and not the vulnerable victims.
An extension lecture was followed by a number of queries made by the participants, which were replied by the Resource Person in most simple and impressive manner.
The Principal of the College, Prof Ajeet Angral reiterated the imperative need for Gender Sensitization in Higher Education.
He also apprised the audience about various measures being taken by the college management. Prof Priyanka Katoch from Women's Studies Centre, University of Jammu was also present on the occasion.
Prof Deepa Mattoo, Incharge, Women Developmenr Cell emphasized that the purpose of the programme was to equip the institution with gender friendly atmosphere and to offer moral and advisory support to the female members.
