One held with stolen PHE pipes, telephone poles, cable | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT KISHTWAR, Oct 28: A mini-truck operator was apprehended by police here Wednesday night along with a consignment of stolen PHE pipes, telephone poles and cable, which he was to sell to a scrap dealer. The articles had been stolen from some remote areas of Kishtwar and broken into pieces to look them like scrap, police sources said.Acting on a tip-off, police laid a surprise naka near the wine shop here last night and started checking of vehicles. While checking a mini Mahindra truck (JK02AE/7882), cops recovered the stolen items from it. Its operator Arjun Singh Rana, son of Jagdish Rana of Samina Colony, Kishtwar, was arrested and the consignment seized along with the truck, the sources added. Sources said while the PHE pipe pieces weighed 107 kg, poles and cable weighed 145 kg each. The total scrap in the truck weighed around 502 kg, the sources added. The seized items were valued at over Rs 50,000.
