Corrupt ministers, bureaucrats looting J&K state exchequer: Vakil
10/29/2010 9:21:05 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Oct 29: Prevailing security situation is likely to strengthen nexus of corruption between ministers and bureaucrats, thereby increasing chances of complete paralysis of administrative machinery across Jammu and Kashmir.
Senior Congress leader and MLC Abdul Gani Vakil said this in a statement issued here today.
“Corrupt ministers, bureaucrats and other high profile people have found this situation apt for looting state exchequer by adopting wrongful means. They are likely to cause irreparable damage to the otherwise clean image of ruling National Conference (NC)-Congress coalition government,” Vakil said.

He called upon Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to remain extremely vigilant and prevent corrupt elements from taking undue advantage of prevailing situation.

“Chief Minister has to remain cautious against elements who are hell bent upon damaging credibility of the ruling coalition government. He has to ensure thorough scrutiny of corrupt and inefficient ministers,” Vakil opined.

Stating that time has come for the Chief Minister to take action, Vakil maintained that without concrete action, situation is unlikely to improve.

“People are eagerly waiting to see what action government takes against the corrupt and inefficient. They have lots of expectations from the coalition government and it has to fulfill all those,” Vakil added.
Asserting that strengthening of coalition government was the need of the hour, Vakil sought cooperation of the masses for effective implementation of the developmental schemes.
