Extension in last date for electoral rolls demanded | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 30: Thakur Hari Singh vice president J&K Pradesh Congress Committee demanded extension in the last date for filling claims to the electoral rolls for panchayat elections. Singh was speaking in a meeting of block Congress Committee Vijaypur. He said that there are many discrepancies in the electoral rolls for panchayat elections and the time fixed for filling claims is too short. The people of rural area are busy in harvesting their paddy crops and could not file their claims for the discrepancies in the electoral rolls. He also expressed concern over the shortage of fertilizers in Vijaypur block and urged upon the authorities to provide adequate supply of fertilizers to the farmers of Vijaypur block. He also demanded special recruitment drive for the kandi belt of Samba district because the unemployed youth of this area have no other source of income for their livelihood as the area is dry and no scope of agriculture industry in the area. Prominent among those who attended the meeting included Buti Ram, Rachpal, Madan Lal Chalotra, Raghbir Sharma, Onkar Singh, Tej Ram, Dheru Ram, Rattan Lal Verma, Nazir Ahmed, Ajit Singh, Sabtantar Singh, Chuarmal Sharma, Madan Lal and others.
