Weather Station came up in BGSBU | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT RAJOURI, OCT 30: Vice Chancellor of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University, Prof IA Hamal inaugurated an automatic Weather Station in Lead Botanic Garden of the Centre for Biodiversity Studies of this University. As per reports, the equipment, imported form US under the Lead Botanic Garden Project funded by Ministry of Environment and Forest, Government of India, the Centre for Biodiversity Studies will be able to gather accurate and up to date details of the weather conditions of this important region. Called Watch Dog, the AWS measures, calculates and logs 11 parameters including Air Temperature, Relative humidity, Dew point, Solar radiation, Evapotranspiration, Barometeric pressure, rainfall, soil temperature, wind speed, wind direction and wind chill. With the commissioning of AWS, research related to Biodiverrsity studies in the filed will get a flip. While inaugurating the AWS and handing it over to CBS, Vice Chancellor Professor I. A. Hamal congratulated the scientist of CBS and University fraternity for having added such an outstanding gadget to the research and development infrastructure in the University. The commissioning of AWS in BGSBU is going to benefit the Rajouri region a lot by proving the accurate weather details. It will benefit both researchers and agriculture community in a great way. Vice Chancellor also desired that CBS should provide the data on weather to any organization by charging a nominal fee that can be used for maintenance of the system in future. Also present on the occasion were Registrar, Mohd Rashid Chowdhary, Dean School of Biosciences and Biotechnology, Professor A. K. Koul, Director CBS, Prof. R. N. Gohil, Principal Investigator of the Lead Garden project, Dr. Susheel Verma, students, researchers and Faculty of CBS.
