Panthers terms interlocutors an eyewash | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 30 : The Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party today described the visit by Centre's interlocutors to this temple town a 'futile exercise and a breakdown before breakthrough. ' 'The visit of interlocutors is merely an eyewash as they have failed to meet the aspirations of the people by ignoring various sections of the society,' party MLA and working chairman Harsh Dev Singh said at a press conference here. The Panthers leader said only two of three members of panel visited Jammu, while the third left for Delhi, indicating that the team lacked coordination. Noted journalist Dileep Padgaonkar, who heads the panel, and academician Professor Radha Kumar had visited the city, while former Information Commissioner M M Ansari, the third member of the team, had left for Delhi. He said the interlocutors created a controversy by using the word 'disputed' for Kashmir and by entertaining the proposals of 'azaadi' mooted by certain quarters. ''In Jammu, the interlocutors took a U-turn favouring a solution based on consensus among all three regions of the state and in totality they had proved to be an exercise in futility,'' he said. The pro-Pakistan faction of Hurriyat Conference led by SAS Gilani has already rejected the panel, while Hurriyat moderate faction headed by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq had also dubbed it a "futile exercise".
