RTO Jammu realizes Rs 1.38 lakh from defaulters

JAMMU, Oct 30: Regional Transport Officer, Jammu along with Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Jammu and Samba together with a team of Motor Vehicle Inspectors today conducted a surprise checking on the National Highway from Satwari to Samba.
The team challaned various vehicles for over-loading, over-charging, road violations, wrong display of number plates, passenger fare list and other violations.
During the course of checking, about 200 vehicles were checked, out of which 22 challaned and 48 were compounded on the spot and compound money to the tune of Rs. 1.38 Lakh was realised, besides three vehicles were seized.
The vehicle operators were warned not to make violations of Motor Vehicles Act and Rules in future. They were advised to adhere to the time table frame.
