PC takes stock of rehabilitation, reconstruction work in Leh

LEH, Oct 30: To get the first hand assessment of the rehabilitation and reconstruction work in Leh the Union Home Minister P Chidambaram today paid visits to different places and have meeting with local administration besides representatives of Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC).
The Union Home Minister, who reached here early this morning directly, flew to Puga village and Hot Spring in Changthang Village.
After visiting these places, Chidambaram reached Pangong Lake where he interacted with army jawans.
He also paid visits to various flood affected areas of Saboo village and Choglamsar village.
At Saboo village he inaugurated a newly constructed two room home for flood victims. The structure has been constructed by CII. CII officials said that they are planning to construct twelve more such structures.
Presently only a model structure was completed and ready to use.
One such structure has already been completed second one is about to complete, rest of the structure will be completed in next season.
At Solar Colony, the Union Home Minister took stock of the reconstruction and rehabilitation work going on over there and personally inspected the prefabricated structure and appreciated the various departments for the timely work.
There he also held a public interaction where people from all walks of life submitted their grievances. He listened to them and gave assurance that all the genuine demands will be fulfilled soon. One of the demands that people made to Home Minister was their livelihood. In the recent flood many have lost their source of income, for which they were demanding new jobs and employment opportunities.
Chidambaram was accompanied by state Minister for Tourism Nawang Rigzin Jora who briefed in details about the employment schemes going to be launched for flood victims.
Union Home Minister also went to the ITBP campus where he inaugurated a newly constructed structure. He interacted with the ITBP jawans and appreciated their work .
In the evening the Union Home Minister held a meeting with newly LAHDC, Leh and local Administration. In the meeting he congratulated all the councilors of LAHDC, Leh for their win in the recently held elections to the council.
The Chief Executive Councilor Rigzin Spulber briefed the Home Minister about the rehabilitation and reconstruction work going on in Leh.
