| Rs. 6 cores would be spent under MNREGA | | Kissan Mela by Agriculture department at Gool | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Udhampur Oct, 31: To provide necessary awareness to the rural masses of hilly areas of Gool in Ramban district about the state and centrally sponsored schemes, the department of agriculture organized one day Kissan Mela-cum Exhibition at Gool .
The Minister of State for Haj, Auqaf and Fisheries (Independent Charge), . Aijaz Ahmed Khan was the chief guest while District Development Commissioner, Ramban,. Shabir Ahmed, was also present during the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Aijaz said that main aim and objective of such Kissan Melas and exhibitions is to provide necessary awareness to the farming community to boost their agriculture produce.
He said that farming community is the backbone of society which produces food grains not only for their self but for the whole society.
He assured the farmers that latest varieties of hybrid seeds with fertilizers would be provided and exhorted upon them to come forward, make their self fully aware about the latest techniques and boost their agriculture produce by way of latest methods.
The Minister directed the DDC to strengthen the agriculture sector with utmost involvement of farming community and convene monthly meetings with all line departments and monitor the progress of all departments.
Aijaz sanctioned Rs. 13 lacs for high mask light for Gool bazaar under Constituency Development Fund (CDF) besides 25 primary Schools would be upgraded to Middle standard in due course of time.
An amount of Rs. 2.5 crores was spent under MNREGA in Gool block during last fiscal where as Rs. 6 crores are likely to be spent during this current year besides Gool area would also be brought under tourist map and tourists
