10/31/2010 11:02:43 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Oct 31: All India Kashmiri Samaj organized an interactive meeting of the prominent Kashmiri Pandit community members with His Holiness Jagat Guru Sri Shankaracharya Jayenrda Saraswati Maharaj of Kanchimutt today.
Terming Jammu and Kashmir as an integral part of India Jagat Guru Shankaracharya said that from Kashmir to Kanya Kumari India is one.
We must believe that we are Indians, he said. Showing concern to the pain of exile community of Kashmiri Pandits he announced maintenance and help for the Kashmiri Pandit widows living in displacement.
He also said that scholarship will be given to the needy children and Samohik Yanopavit will be organized for the Pandit members.
Marriages of those will be organized who can not afford to solemnize it due to the financial scarcity.
Terming Pandits as a special community he announced that a Pathshala will be set up with the transportation facility to give Sanskrit and Vedic education to the Kashmiri Pandit children.
He said that Hawans/Yagya are performed at different places for praying for normalcy, peace and prosperity of the state.
In this connection a Hawan has already started at Mata Vaishnov Devi yesterday.
Speaking on the political problem of Kashmiri Pandits he said that he will gradually take up this matter since this is political in nature.
Speaking on the occasion Moti Kaul, president AIKS, said that it is very unfortunate that pain, agony and miseries of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits in general and those languishing in migrant camps in particular, even after twenty years of displacement, continues unabated.
The biggest tragedy is that the Government has always proved to be a mute spectator over the misfortunes of the community in exile. It has been showing insensitiveness and unconcern to the tragedy of rootless-ness of Kashmiri Pandits. Kaul said that Kashmiri Pandits believe in strengthening the bonds with their place of birth that is Kashmir . “To get incessantly and totally coupled with Kashmir , we need proper space in terms of economy and politics. The irony is that shrines and temples, being our symbols and identity, are being neglected, grabbed and encroached and so many of them lie in depilated condition,” he said.
Appealing His Holiness Jagat Guru Sri Shankaracharya Maharaj of Kanchimutt, Moti Kaul urged him to use his good offices anywhere in the country and abroad not to neglect the ethnic race of Kashmiri Pandits which has unforgettable ethos and history of 5000 years. He also appealed to him to make his personal efforts in getting Shrines and Temples bill passed.
