Jammu NC leaders have tough job at hand | Struggling to improve Omar’s public image | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 31: Ever since Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has made a bold statement questioning the accession of state of Jammu and Kashmir in the state assembly the Jammu based leaders of the National Conference are in tizzy and feeling the heat of criticism from local political leaders for unnecessarily raking up the controversy at a critical juncture. Their fears came true when one of the local leaders of the Jammu Kashmir Panthers Party showed black flags and shouted slogans in the face of the Chief Minister in Abtal village of Vijaypur. Though the incident passed off with out making much difference onthe ground but now with durbar move offices shifting to Jammu from next week the National Conference leaders are finding it difficult to change the strong public opinion against the young chief minister. Successful celebrations of Accession day in Jammu and large attendance of people in street corner meetings further added to the miseries of the National Conference leaders as political leaders and common people flayed Chief Minister for his controversial statement. Inside reports reveal that the National Conference leaders have been entrusted with the responsibility of organising public meetings to highlight the achievements of the Omar Abdullah government and improve his image in the eyes of the common masses. Now it remains to be seen when the durbar move offices will start functioning in Jammu whether the Chief Minister will be able to function smoothly.
