Workshop on role of NSS held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 31: The two day workshop on the `role of NSS’ in Higher Education concluded here today. In the valedictory session, Prof. N.K. Tripathi, Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu was the chief guest. In his address, Prof. N.K. Tripathi congratulated the faculty of DDE and NSS for organising workshop for distance learners. Prof. Jasbir Singh, Programme Coordinator, NSS University of Jammu, congratulated the volunteers for their active involvement in the workshop. He said these volunteers would be encouraged to take up extension and reach out activities along with their academic pursuits. Earlier, Dr. Anupama Vohra presented formal welcome address. The workshop report was presented by Dr. Anju Thappa. Feedback about the workshop was given by the volunteers of PG English, Sociology and Hindi. In the morning session. NSS volunteers presented their views on various topics like adoption of village, illiteracy, employment for self reliance, nutrition for pregnant women etc. The session was conducted by Prof. Sandhya Bharadwaj. A quiz was also organised in which NSS Programme Coordinator, Prof Jasbir Singh asked questions. Dr. Neeru Sharma from Dept. of Home Science, University of Jammu made a presentation on “Millennium Development Goals and human development”. Radha Sharma, Advocate J&K High Court delivered on interactive legal lecture on awareness among youth and made the volunteers aware about various legal rights. Prizes were also distributed among the volunteers. Senior NSS Volunteers, Mohd. Arif, Kiran Kumar Sharma, Sandeep, Parveen, Sumit Kumar Dogra, Priya, Ankush Verma and Rohit were felicitated on the occasion. Prof. Anita Billawaria and Prof. Geetanjali Rajput, Prof. V D Singh, Dr. Sandhya Bhardwaj were also present on the occasion. Dr. Neharica Subash conducted the programme. Vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Rajni Gupta.
