Govt prioritizing sports in schools: Dy CM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, OCT 31: Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand today said that the coalition government has taken various measures to upgrade the sports infrastructure in the state to enable local sportsmen to prepare themselves for national and international events. The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at the prize distribution function at a wrestling championship organized by Baba Kaliknath Sports club at Thathar Ria Bantalab. The Deputy Chief Minister said that the state has no dearth of talent and the government was taking every step to promote sports, particularly those which have great bearing in the local traditions. He said that stadiums and infrastructure is being developed at every district and Tehsil headquarters, besides prioritizing sports and other co-curricular activities in the schools adding that appointments of Physical education teachers being made in schools is a major step in this direction. Tara Chand congratulated Baba Kaliknath Sports club for organising a series of wrestling championships and providing local youth an opportunity to prove their mettle. Earlier, the final event of the wrestling championship was held and the winner was given a cash award of Rs 81,000 .
