| Burglars strike at Chenani, decamp with cash, jewellery | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 01: Burglars struck at four houses at Madha in Chenani area of Udhampur Sunday night and decamped with cash and gold jewellery worth lakhs.Police sources said burglars broke into the house of Koushlaya Devi, wife of Bodh Raj, at Madha late last night and decamped with 25 tolas of gold and 20 tolas of silver ornaments, besides Rs 70,000 in cash. The family members came to know about the theft when they woke up in the morning. The burglars also broke into the houses of Hem Raj, son of Dina Nath, Trilok, son of Beli Ram, and Vijay Kumar, son of Parkash, in the village and decamped with gold jewellery worth lakhs and cash.Angry villagers also held a demonstration against police following the latter's failure to keep a vigil in the area. |
