Rajouri receives Chief Minister with enthusiasm
Equitable development fundamental principle of government’s policy-planning: Azad

Rajouri, November 02 – Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad said on Thursday that a massive development programme has been launched in the state with strict direction to complete the projects in fixed timeframe to ensure equitable developmental of all areas giving priority to backward and far-off hilly places.
Speaking a mammoth gathering at Rajouri this afternoon, Chief Minister said that development is a continuous process and during last four years remarkable achievements have been registered in every development field. He said during the past one year innovative and people-friendly steps have been initiated to create a new work culture, curb corruption and mal-practices, avoid delay in completion of works, make administration responsive and strive for ushering the state in an era of peace and development.
He said drive against corruption received highest priority and enactment of law to confiscate ill-gotten property of corrupt elements provided further teeth and force to the anti-corruption drive. Many functionaries and officers indulging in mal-practices and acquiring properties disproportionate of their known sources of income have been brought to book and action under law taken against them.
Seeking earnest cooperation from the people of Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister said his war against corruption would only succeed when people in every walk of life contribute their might to apprehend the culprits and help eradicate corruption menace from the society. Responding to the Chief Minister’s call for cooperation to end corruption, thousands of people present in the public meeting stood up and raised their hands saying “Azad Sahib Aghey Bado Hum Aapkey Sath Hain”.
Chief Minister said in order to realize the people’s aspiration and fulfill their long cherished demand, creation of eight new districts, three sub-divisions and thirteen tehsils have been approved to expand the administrative network and provide proper attention to the people’s needs.
Mr. Azad who was received by thousands of people, carried in a procession to the venue of meeting through decorated roads and bazaars of Rajouri town, thanked the people for the rousing reception given to him time and again. He said after completing one year in office, Rajouri is the first town where he is addressing people and giving details of activities and achievements of the government registered in one year.
Mr. Azad said that sincere efforts have been made during last one year to sort out problems confronting the people of Jammu and Kashmir through the medium of roundtable conferences and five working groups constituted to look into the details of issues and problems have already held seven meetings.
Saying that violence does not solve any problem, he said that government is ready to talk to everybody who shuns violence and resorts to process of interaction and dialogue in a democratic and peaceful atmosphere. He said while government is firm to curb terrorist acts and killing of innocent civilians by militants, security forces and police have been given directions to make every restraint while dealing with terrorists so that harassment and right’s violation do not take place. He said as a result of this right’s violations have gradually decreased and last one year registered lowest of all custodial deaths in 17 years of militancy.
Referring to the steps taken by the government to address un-employment problem especially among educated youth, Chief Minister said ban on recruitment has been removed and 19000 vacancies referred to Boards and Public Service Commission for selection. He said all un-employed engineers are being engaged on contractual basis while as engagement of agriculture graduates on stipend has been approved, besides raising three more police battalions to recruit youth.
Chief Minister said that since Jammu and Kashmir possesses vast tourism potential and in this sector lies the prosperity of people and the state, as such, chaste tourist areas including Poonch and Rajouri districts are being developed and showcased for tourist attraction. He said pilgrim tourism is being given considerable fillip and pilgrimage places like Shahdara Sharief received due attention for all round development.
He said Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University at Shahdara Sharief is going to make this area hub of educational and learning activities. He said the University would provide ample opportunities to knowledge seekers, students and teachers to excel in higher education and achieve new vistas in technical and scientific fields.
Chief Minister also inaugurated Video Conference facility centre in DC office and declared open three day handicrafts exhibition at Rajouri.

Mohammad Aslam, Vice Chairman Pahari Advisory Board Mr. Shabir Ahmad Khan, legislators Mr. Ashok Sharma, Mr. Arvinder Singh, Th. Puran Singh and Mr. Lal Mohammad Sabir were present on the occasion.
