Degree college, ITI college at Majalta demanded | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu. Nov 2: Senior vice-president, J&K Pradesh Youth Congress R.S. Pathania has demanded sanctioning of a degree college and ITI college at Majalta. Pathania informed that a proposed Degree College at Majalta shall feed pass-outs of as many as ten Higher Secondary schools and five Tehsils, Majalta and bordering areas of Jammu, Samba, Billawar and Ramnagar. He also sought a Degree College for the hilly, backward and militancy-infested area of Basantgarh as the students of the area do not have the resources, support and time to live and study in rented accommodations at Ramnagar or Udhampur in order to continue their higher studies. A memorandum addressed to Chief Minister was also prepared reflecting the popular demands of the area and forwarded to him. Pathania further demanded a special package for Majalta tehsil so as to operationalise newly-upgraded Tehsil in an effective and target-oriented way. He demanded separate developmental blocks for Deot and Manwal and also demanded Municipal Committees for Majalta and Manwal. He has also sought early start of work on Chountara-Sunetar raod, Tajoor-Peuni road, Sehal-Lyani road and Sehal-Barigarh road and sought additional funds for repair of SK Ber and Peuni roads having been already completed under PMGSY. Prominent among those who addressed the people included Kuldip Singh, Bhuri Singh, Uttam Chand, Rattan Chand, Nammi, Singha Ram, Pushpinder Singh, Talib, Qaim Din, Ranjit Singh, Mohd. Din, Mohd. Abdullah, Sharan Singh, Hardev Singh, Romesh Kumar, Dewan Chand, Gian Chand, Charan Das, Bodh Raj, Om Parkash, Dav Raj, Shanak Ram, Mam Din, Dhani Ram and a wide galaxy of local leaders.
