| Umair of Sainik School, Rakesh of BSF win gold | | Jammu Sahodaya (CBSE) Schools Athletics Meet | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Nov 2: Umair Iqbal of Sainik School Nagrota and Rakesh Roshan of BSF Senior Secondary School clinched gold medals on the opening day of the Jammu Sahodaya (CBSE) School Athletics (boys and girls) Meet got underway a Sainik School Nagrota grounds, here today.
Both these athletes won medals in field events. While Umair bagged first place in Shot Put, Rakesh secured gold in Triple Jump. Second place in Shot Put went to Cadet Wasif Majid while the silver in Triple Jump won by Umair Noor of Sainik School Nagrota.
Earlier, the three-day meet was declared open by Principal of Sainik School Nagrota, Group Captain, Ajay Kumar. In all, 12 CBSE affiliated schools of Jammu region are taking part in various field and track events.
The participating schools included St. Stephen, KC International, Heritage, Jodhamal, BSF, Air Force School, Army School Nagrota, AS Akhnoor, AS Domana, AS BD Bari.
On the first day of the event, heats took place in track and field events of boys and girls section while a couple of medals were decided. The finals of different races are expected tomorrow.
Prominent among those present were B N Sarkar, Principal of Heritage School, KSC Mehta, Principal of Army School Akhnoor, Dr S K Bhardwaj, Principal of
Stephan International School, Lt Col Krishan Yadav Headmaster and Major
Sunil Pandita, Registrar of Sainik School.
