JMC’s sanitation drive continues, defaulters booked | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 2: Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) along with team of food inspectors continued drive to check quality of food items being sold in the city especially during forthcoming festival of Diwali and later on, Eid-ul-Azha. In a handout issued here today, it has been stated that on the instructions of Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) S.C. Sawhney, Health Officer of Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith team of food inspectors continued the drive to check quality of food items being sold in the city especially during forthcoming festival of Diwali. Team inspected about 250 food establishments which included sweet shops, workshops, milk and milk products shops, khoya outlets, bakery, confectionary manufacturing unit and shops in the areas of Rehari, Subash Nagar, Sarwal, Kacchi Chawni, Amphalla, Janipur, New Plot, Roop Nagar, Canal Road, Gandhi Nagar, Nai Basti. During the inspection, 44 defaulters were booked under the provisions of Prevention of Food Adulteration Act 1954 and J&K Municipal Corporation Act 2000. n amount of Rs. 22300- (twenty two Thousand and three hundred only) was charged as fine from the defaulters on spot. About 300 kg of substandard, unhygienic Sweets like Burfi, Ladoo, Jalabi, Khoya, Milk Cake, Bakery Items etc., were destroyed on spot. The Jammu Municipal Corporation today reiterated its appeal to all the shopkeepers, food establishments, vendors to ensure supply of hygienic, pure and fresh products under proper hygienic conditions.
