Early Times Report
R.S.Pura, Nov 2: Charging National Conference led coalition government with adopting anti-poor policies and programmes, , Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today regretted that farmers of rural areas have been bearing brunt of such wrong policies of state government.
Addressing a meeting of party workers at this town, former Rajya Sabha member and vice president of PDP Trilok Singh Bajwa warned that PDP workers along with farming community would block Tawi bridge if problems of the farmers are not solved as early as possible. “Except promises, nothing concrete has been done so far for the last two years to minimise hardship being faced by the farmers of Jammu region in general and R S Pura belt in particular”, he said.
Taking a dig at coalition ministers for claiming to start export of Basmati, Bajwa reminded that it was during the regime of Mufti Mufti Mohammad Sayeed that ban of the export of Basmati was lifted. He further said that neither seed nor fertilizer was available to the farmers at the time of sowing. He further added that irrigation facilities have become non functional as de-silting of the canals were not done properly. He further added that most of the tubewell in the R.S.Pura belt were defunt.
District vice president Chatter Saini, Choudhary Chuni Lal, Capt. (Retd) Hazara Singh and other leaders also spoke on the occasion.
