3 bovine smuggling bids foiled, 10 held | | | JAMMU: Foiling three bids to smuggle bovine animals to the valley, police today arrested 10 persons in Reasi, Ramban and Akhnoor areas of the region. Seven smugglers, who were going on foot to the valley via Neoch Baddar in Mahore area of Reasi, were intercepted by police in Mahore forests. Police sources said a total of 21 milch animals were recovered from them.The accused were identified as Shah Wali, son of Gulam Mohammad, Shamas Din, son of Lal Din, Sharief Din, son of Abdul Sattar, Nazir Ahmed, son of Abdul Rehman, Bahar Din, son of Mohamood, Nazir Ahmed, son of Qamar Din, all residents of Baddar, and Abdul Rashid, son of Ahmadoo of Abdals, Mahore. In another incident, police intercepted two persons at Tatta Pani in Ramban while they were carrying seven bovine animals on foot to Kashmir. The smugglers were arrested and the animals seized. Sources identified the accused as Mushtaq Ahmed, son of Sonaullah wani of Bankoot, Banihal, and Abdul Rashid, son of Ahemdu wani of Changloo, Banihal. One person was arrested in Akhnoor while he was trying to smuggle two animals. He was identified as Rafiq of Nowshera. Sources said the animals were being smuggled in a Tata Mobile load carrier. Of the total three persons travelling in it, Rafiq was held while the other two managed to flee. Cases in this connection stand registered at the concerned police stations. |
