Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 3: Minister for Revenue Raman Bhalla said that the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (SSSB) enjoyed total supremacy in the selection of candidates for different government jobs.
Commenting on reports that the finance department had issued a circular in which it had been stated that candidates belonging to the Kashmiri displaced families selected for government jobs in Kashmir had to appear for fresh interview, Bhalla said that report was baseless. He explained that instructions had gone to the departmental heads to issue appointment letters in favour of those candidates who have been selected by the SSSB.
Bhalla said that since 200 posts in the reserved category are yet to be filled, finance department may have issued the circular in order to invite applications from the displaced youth in the reserved category. Minister said “We will advertise reserved posts three times and if there was no response, these 200 posts will fall in the general category and would be filled on the basis of merit."
He suspected that some agencies were behind spreading canards about the government's plan on implementing the Prime Minister's employment package for the Kashmiri displaced families. Bhalla said that he had visited several areas in the Kashmir valley and was satisfied with the boarding facilities that had been made for those Kashmiri youths who were toe given jobs in the valley.
Bhalla said that the departmental heads had been asked to issue the appointment letters to the selected candidates within 10 days after the Durbar opens in Jammu. He made it clear that the delay in the issuance of the appointment orders was not deliberate but the outcome of the difficult security scenario in the valley.
He said that those given the appointment orders had to join the places of posting within 21 days of the receipt of the appointment letters. Minister said that those who fail to join their duties within the stipulated period would lose the opportunity. He said, in reply to a question, that there was no provision under the Prime Ministers' package for posting the selected youths in two other regions of the state.
He assured the displaced youths that they would be posted at the district and the Tehsil levels and he had asked the departmental heads not to post the migrant youths in far flung areas.
