| Sainik School tops medal tally at Sahodaya athletic meet | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 3: Sainik School Nagrota was at the top of the medal tally with four
gold, four silver and two bronze on the second day of Sahodaya Schools athletic meet currently in progress at the School Mini Stadium at Nagrota.
A number of track and field events were held on the second day in which athletes from 12 schools participated.
The highlights of the day are cadet Akshey Sharma and Ajay Singh
Phogat of Sainik School claimed gold and silver respectively in 5000
meter run and Master Atul of BSF Sr. Secondary School, Jammu bagged
bronze medal.
In 200 meter run for boys, Cadet Anil Sharma of Sainik School won gold while Cadet Abhi Sharma of the same school finished second to win silver. Mehak Pandita of Jodhamal Public School continued her superlative performance and won gold in 200 meter run for girls while Divya of BSF Sr. Secondary School grabbed Silver.
Neena of Army School Domana stood first in Shot Put for girls. In another field event, Triple Jump for girls, Jasmeena Chib of Army School Domana clinched gold and Diksha from BSF School won silver.
As a gesture of appreciation to Sonia Devi of Army School, Domana who completed the race despite falling down, Group Captain Ajay Kumar, Principal, Sainik School, Nagrota awarded a cash prize of Rs 500 to the resilient girl.
Meanwhile, the valedictory function has been scheduled tomorrow .
