Maharasthra sets challenging target for J&K in Ranji | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 03: Visitors Maharashtra built a strong total of 604 runs to set a challenging target for hosts J&K in the ongoing Ranji Trophy Plate Group-B match at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here. In reply, J&K were playing at 134 for two in 50 overs at the end of day three play. Javaid Ahmad played fine innings of 47 runs while Arshad Bhat was batting at 56 with Asif Jeelani (2) at the other end when the stumps were drawn. However, J&K earned 10 extra runs when a penalty was imposed on Maharashtra batsman yesterday by the umpires. A particular batsman whose name was not disclosed was found damaging wicket for two occasions. It resulted into J&K’s first innings total improved by 10 runs to read as 282 instead of 272. With 134 runs on board in the second innings, J&K still need 188 runs to equal the visitors mammoth total of 604 with a day’s play remain tomorrow. Earlier, Maharashtra resumed their innings from overnight score of 457 for four in 108 overs and in an attempt to add quick runs lost wickets at regular intervals. The remaining six wickets fell for 147 runs. Besides, Sangram Atitkar and Ankit Bawne’s centuries, Rohit Motwani and Ganesh Gaikwad also completed their fifties. From J&K, Abid Nabi and Sameer Ali shared two wickets each while Samiullah Beigh, Sameer Khajuria and Raman Dutta too one each.
