EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 3: Even as more than fifteen days have been passed, the future of three sisters, who were abandoned by their parents at Jammu railway station, remains uncertain as the girls are still being shifted from one place to another ever since they were found at the railway platform on the fateful day of October 16.
The three siblings, who have already been shifted from 'temporary' shelters at least on five occasions in the last fortnight, may now have to shift again from their current home at a SOS village as it is against its rule book to keep them beyond a stipulated period.
The sisters, aged three, two and one, were first noticed at railway platform near computer room by a sweeper identified as Gurdev Singh.
Gurdev took the custody of the three children as soon as he realized that no elder is around or accompanying the minors. He took them to his house.
After police came to know of the incident, the children were moved from the sweeper's residence to the police station from where they were shifted to Nari Niketan.
Spending a night at Nari Niketan they were brought back to the police station and then they were sent to SOS Home, Gol Gujral on October 18 on the directions of district administration. Shifting from one refuge to another has happened with these innocent girls, dumped by their parents, in a span of just eighteen days which is not less than a tormenting experience for them.
The ordeal for Kajal, Anchal and Bitti, however, is not over yet as they may now have to shift again from their current make shift home at SOS village since it is against the laws of the organization to keep these girls beyond a stipulated period of time. The police had managed to find girls' father Ram Pal, who happens to be rickshaw puller and he is still in custody. However, the mother remains untraceable so far.
Police sources said that the case is being probed on different lines as the mother of the girls is still undetectable.
The abandoned girls have been on the move since they were dumped by their parents but the irony of the fate is that amidst all this the minor babies are unaware of the precarious situation they are in and are silently awaiting the return of their mother with an unending hope.
