11/4/2010 11:54:15 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
rajouri, Nov 4: Although Chief Minister Omar Abdullah spend tough time in the summer capital due to ongoing unrest and routine strike calendar of hardliner Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani, he is likely to face agitation in Jammu also where state government employees are planning to issue strike calenders after November 10 if government will not issue 6th Pay Commission arrears in one installation and took back the decision taken in this regard.
Sources said that all government employees' organizations have planned to go on strike if state government will not respond to their genuine demand of release of arrear in one installment in the month of November. "We are also going to issue strike calendar after November 10 when the Darbar will start functioning at Jammu", a senior trade unionist and Convenor of Employees Joint Action Committee Vijay Kochar said during joint meeting of atleast 20 government employees associations held here in the premises of District Hospital Rajouri. The meeting was presided over by Farooq Mirza, President of Medical Employees Association.
The Chief Minister is thus going to face an acute problem in Jammu also where employees have almost decided not to cooperate government in the offices till they concede their demand regarding arrears. On one side of state a political problem is hitting the government while on the other side a volcano of employees is going to erupt which may increase tension of the Chief Minister. "We will wait the response of government and if they will show lack of interest in it, we will definitely issue calendar of strikes and will come on streets to hold demonstrations because there is only option to get justice", Vijay Kochar said.
Speaking on the occasion, Pir Panjal Regional Employees Front General Secretary Shahbaz Khan has cornered government saying that the government is taking anti-employees steps which will turn fatal for the government itself. "We are the actual people on whom government is running and when we will pull ourselves from the system, the government will mitigate all our demands", he said terming decision of government regarding arrears as total cheat with the employees. He said that when officials are delivering duties, there is no fun to pay their arrears in 3 installations. "This is totally unacceptable and we are going to show our anger on the streets if government failed to revive its decision", he said adding that they are in close contact with the employees leadership of the state and are going to take some decision in near future regarding the future course of action.
The employees leaders lambasted government for its alleged anti-employees policies. "We think somebody in government in misleading Chief Minister and the person is not in favour to see Omar Abdullah more on chair", They said adding that Chief Minister is serious to address issues but some of the people in government did not want to see success of their boss.
Meanwhile Farooq Mirza, President of Medical Employees Forum in his presidential address said that all employees associations are ready to take to the streets and hold demonstrations against the state government decision regarding arrears. He said that they will not wait any more and will take decision about the strikes in near future. Jammu & Kashmir Teachers Forum District President Vinod Sharma has also suggested to launch protest against government while President of Pharmacist Association Majeed Lone has said that all employees have been landed in uncertainty due to state government's decision of payment of arrears in 3 installments.
