Govt pursuing roadmap for employment generation: Dy CM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, NOVEMBER 6: Deputy Chief Minister, Mr Tara Chand on Saturday said that the government was vigorously pursuing the roadmap for generating sustainable employment opportunities for the unemployed youth of the state. The Chief Minister was addressing locals at village Patni in border block of Khour during a function organized to pay tributes Baba Vishwakarma, on Vishwakarma Day. The Deputy Chief Minister also paid obeisance at the local Lord Vishwakarma temple Earlier, he also dedicated a community hall to the people of the area constructed at a cost of Rs 7 lakh for the convenience of the people of the area. Deputy Chief Minister said that the government was seriously working on the roadmap for creating ample employment opportunities under the prestigious Sher-e-Kashmir Employment Scheme for Welfare of Youth (SKESWY). He said the government was taking every measure for the vigorous implementation of the scheme. Referring to the government’s plan of creating jobs, He said the it has approved Rs 143 crore plan to employ 43,000 persons at various levels in different government departments. He said the under the plan proposal, which has already got the State Cabinet approval , envisages engagement of 43,000 youth in the departments of Power Development, PHE, Irrigation, Flood Control, Public Works, Rural Development, Floriculture, School Education and Forests. He said that a roadmap is being prepared by the government to implement the employment package which will be equally shared between Kashmir and Jammu division. He said of the 43,000 jobs as many as 20,500 will be reserved for Jammu division and the same number in Kashmir division while 2,000 engagements will be made in Ladakh region. Listing various ongoing and completed projects in the border block of Khour, the deputy chief minister said that both centre and state governments are committed for the development of all the border areas in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that the government is well aware about the problems of the border people and it strongly believes that they need a special and focused attend. He also referred to the BADP scheme and highlighted the developmental and welfare schemes being implemented in the state under this centrally sponsored scheme. Meanwhile, the members of the committee and the local people put forth certain demands and problems which included enhancement of OBC reservation quota, issuance of OBC certificate instead of OSC, scholarship to OBC students on the pattern of SC students, increase in income slab for getting OBC benefits.
