JMC continues drive against adulteration | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 6: Jammu Municipal Corporation alongwith team of food inspectors continued the drive to check the quality of food items and inspected about 110 food establishments like sweet shops workshops, milk and milk products shops, cooked food dhabas / restaurants, fruit juice corners / reharies etc. in the different areas viz Indira Chowk, B.C. Road, Jewel, Bikram Chowk, Railway Station, Kachi Chawni, Prade, Gandhi Nagar, and Nanak Nagar. During the inspection 31 defaulters were booked under the provisions of Prevention of Food Adulteration Act 1954 and J&K Municipal Corporation Act 2000. An amount of Rs. 8500 was charged as fine from the defaulters on spot and about 200 kgs of substandard sweets like Burfi, Laddo, Jalebi, Khoya, Rasgulla, Milk Cake etc were seized and destroyed on spot. The Jammu Municipal Corporation once again asked all the shopkeepers, food establishments / vendors to ensure supply of hygienic, pure and fresh products under proper hygienic conditions to the general public failing which strict action shall under the provisions of Prevention of Food Adulteration Act 1954 and J&K Municipal Corporation Act 2000 shall be taken against them.
