Kissan Movement regrets deteriorating condition of farmers | | | Early Times Report KATHUA, Oct 26: Kisaan Movement (KM) has expressed deep regret over deteriorating condition of farmers across Jammu and Kashmir. In a handout issued here today, Kisaan Movement has said that farmers have been left with no option but to sell their produce on extremely cheap rates of Rs. 700 to 800 to private market players. Founder of Kissan movement Babu Singh accused state government of not giving proper rates of paddy per quintal. He said that agriculture is lifeline of the society. He said that few decades back, government launched chemical technology named green revolution to promote agriculture produce on the direction of capitalist master who damaged soil health due to extreme emission of green house gases. He demanded that chemical technology and small land holding has become major threat for the survival of entire human society. Further, he also welcomed sanctioning of more than Rs. 156 crore for drought-hit farmers of the state by centre government and demanded release of pending dues. He further warned state government that if above procurement centre, timely fertilizers, seeds and other grievances are not addressed; Kisaan movement will stage Dharna and demonstration against the government. Others who were present on the occasion included Karan Singh, Daya Ram, Ashwani Sharma, Sanjeev Verma, Arjun Kumara and Surinder.
