Cricket: J&K salvages a draw against Kerela | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, November 06: After losing their first three matches, Jammu and Kashmir managed to thwart Kerala's attempt for an outright win in the Col. CK Nayadu under-22 cricket match at the LNCPE ground in Kerela.
According to reports reaching here, needing 258 to win off 48 overs, Jammu and Kashmir ended the day at 171 for seven when the play was called off at the end of the 10th mandatory over.
Opener Anreshi (57) and captain Parvez Rasool (52) played stubbornly to shut out the host, which made early inroads. Earlier, resuming at 29 for no loss, Kerala batsmen went for quick runs. Sachin Mohan made a strokeful 87 but Parvez Rasool (four for 40) and Sahil Sharma (three for 70) picked up wickets at regular intervals to restrict the host.
Kerala, which took the first innings lead, got three points from the match and took its tally to 10 points from four matches. Kerala meets Goa in its last match at the same venue while J&K shall take on Andhra Pradesh in the last game from November eight.
The scores: Kerala 236 and 217 in 63.3 overs (Sachin Mohan 87, NK Arjun 30, Parvez Rasool four for 40, Sahil Sharma three for 70) drew with Jammu and Kashmir 196 and 171 for seven in 43 overs (Anreshi 57, Parvez Rasool 52).
