EARLY TIMES REPORT
Mendhar, Nov 7: The Army on Sunday flagged off the educational and motivational tour of the students of Mendhar town and adjoining border villages. The tour was flagged off by the Commander Bhimber Gali brigade.
As per the press statement, there was lot of ‘pomp gaiety’, excitement and expectation amongst the children as they prepared to embark on the tour; a first trip outside the state for many.
The tour is aimed at providing exposure to the participating children from far flung areas which will go a long way in bringing the youth to the mainstream. The tour will instill a sense of awareness and national integrity in the children.
The glittering flagging off ceremony was attended by senior Army officers and civil dignitaries.
The guest of honour during his interaction with the children asked them to spread the message of peace and harmony in the places they would be visiting, learn from the rich cultural heritage of our country and imbibe a sense of tolerance and brotherhood.
The itinerary includes visit to various places in New Delhi including India Gate, Red Fort, Indira Gandhi Memorial, Nehru Planetarium, Rashtrapati Bhawan and a meeting with the President of India Pratibha Devi Singh Patil.
From New Delhi the children will precede to Agra to visit the world famous Taj Mahal, the epitome of ‘True Love’, Red Fort, and Fatehpur Sikri.
They will also visit Jaipur, where they will go the most popular historical places of Jaipur and adjacent areas. They will also be visiting the famous shrine of Hazrat Moinuddin Chisti in Ajmer.
During the tour the children will interact with a number of prominent dignitaries in Delhi, Agra and Jaipur.
The locals and the parents of these children expressed their sincere gratitude to the Army for giving their children an opportunity to see other parts of the country which otherwise would have been a distant dream.
