Shopkeeper's face crushed with stones, dies | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 7: A shopkeeper was murdered and his face crushed with stones by about four inebriated youth at Gsanu in Akhnoor, about 25 km from here, Saturday night after he asked them to behave themselves and not to shower abuses in the locality. Four odd youth last evening came in a minibus from Maira Mandrian to Gsanu and consumed liquor outside the kiryana shop of Ashok Sharma, son of Diwan Chand. After they got drunk, they started showering abuses, creating nuisance. When Ashok asked them to behave themselves, there were heated exchanges between the two sides following which they abducted him and took him along with them in the minibus. Police sources said they gave him a sound beating in the vehicle and also dragged him by holding him from the legs. They later smashed his face with heavy stones and then threw him in the bushes in the village periphery, the sources added. The body was found lying in the bushes by family members at about 11 am today. They brought the matter to the notice of police. Sources said police immediately reached the spot and evacuated the body to hospital after completing legal formalities. After post-mortem, the body was handed over to his family members for last rites. During investigation, police got the number of the minibus from villagers. Sources said identity of all the accused had been established and raids were being conducted to apprehend them. A murder case was registered against them. |
