NHPC celebrates 36th Raising Day | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 8: The 36th Raising Day of NHPC was celebrated with much fanfare and enthusiasm at all its units through out the country today. The Raising Day was also celebrated by office of Executive Director of Jammu region-I with great pomp and show here. The employees participated in the function in large numbers. The function was inaugurated by Jitender Singh, Executive Director (R-I) and the welcome address was given by Sanjay Sarbhoy, chief HR of the company. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Singh congratulated all the employees of the company and highlighted the achievements of NHPC. He briefed about the NHPC and the progress made by the organization with the passage of time. He said NHPC is taking up projects from conceptualization to commissioning. Speaking about the power stations of NHPC in J&K, Mr Singh said that river Chenab has a large hydro potential and still a lot requires to be tapped. He hoped that the recent joint venture of NHPC Limited with J&K State of 2100 MW shall contribute a lot towards development of the State. He advised the employees to work hard with dedication for achieving many targets. On the occasion a colourful cultural programme was organized. According to a NHPC handout the Corporation has grown both in strength and structure. It has contributed in the development of the country to a large extent. At present the Corporation is generating 17,000 MW annually from its installed capacity of 5295mw. It said in J&K alone the Corporation generates 8500MW annually from its installed capacity of 1680MW. In addition to the construction and operation of generating power stations, NHPC has been entrusted with the implementation of Rajiv Gandhi Vidutikaran Yojna in seven districts of J&K, it added.
