| HC directs Udhampur police to produce lady | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, November-08 (JNF):- In a habeas corpus petition filed by one Santosh Kumari through her husband in which it has been submitted that she said to be in illegal custody of police station Basant Garh and P/S Udhampur since November 1, 2010. The latest information to her husband is that presently she is confined in women police station Udhampur. Adv HC Jalmeria appearing for the petitioner submitted that he has specifically averred that third degree method has been used for torturing Santosh Kumari, she needed immediate medical care also. He further submitted that had she been arrested in any case, she would have been procued before the court concerned which is not the position in this case, therefore, prima-facie it appears to be a case of illegal detention. Justice Virender Singh of J&K High Court Jammu Wing issued notice to Commissioner/ Secretary Home, SSP Udhampur, SHO P/S Basant Garh and SHO Women P/S Udhampur and also directed SSP Udhampur to ensure whether Santosh Kumari is detained in Police Station Basant Garh or Women P/S Udhampur and in case she is found to be there, an entry shall be made in this regard in the daily register duly maintained by the concerned police station and she will also be produced before this Court tomorrow on November 9, 2010.
