Omar asks NC workers for socio-economic change

Jammu, Nov 8: Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah today impressed upon the rank and file of National Conference to be agents of socio-economic change in the State. He said workers have special responsibility to take political leaders and ministers to every area to reach out people for development needs.
“Keeping constant liaison with people at the gross roots, you should help redressing their grievances and making them aware of the initiatives taken by the government on development front”, he said and asked them to organize public meets in every area where political leadership including ministers will be invited to participate and get first hand appraisal of the public needs.
Addressing large number of National Conference Workers and office bearers at a reception giving function to welcome the Chief Minister and his government on the occasion of opening of offices here, Omar Abdullah said that regular public rapport was the benchmark of his functioning.
“I get important feed back from you about the development and socio-economic conditions of the people in the State. My rapport with you will further strengthen”, he said adding that field visits and Awami Mulakats will be his regular feature as usual.
Omar Abdullah said that government was determined to hold Panchayat Elections and transfer power to the public representatives at grass roots. “It will help bigger participation of people in policy making and implementation of works on ground”, he said and asked the workers to play their important role in the efforts of the government to establish Panchayat Raj in the State.
The Chief Minister said that the government has initiated effective measures to ensure equitable development of the State and address the employment crisis. “The party workers should apprise the people about these measures and the performance of the government on the development front”, he said.
National Conference Provincial President, Rattan Lal Gupta in his welcome address appreciated the dynamism of Omar Abdullah and described him the hope of youth.
Later, National Conference District President Urban, Rajesh Bakshi distributed sweets among the Party workers who called on Chief Minister at Civil Secretariat and the employees.
