Gear up activities for developing urban infrastructure: Tara Chand

JAMMU, NOVEMBER 08: Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand stressed upon the need for bringing in more accountability and transparency in timely utilization of funds and completion of projects taken up under various centrally and state sponsored scheme for improving urban infrastructure in the state.
Deputy Chief Minister was chairing a high level meeting to review the ongoing projects under various scheme of Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD) here today.
Tara Chand took a detailed review of the performance and achievements of Housing and Urban Development Department (H&UDD) under UIDSSMT/IHSDP/ILCS, scheme, taken up by line department. The meeting was informed that under IHSDP scheme out of 2,127 units, work has been taken up for 1891 dwelling units in 11 towns. The Deputy Chief Minister directed for proper identification of the beneficiaries so that maximum people can get benefit.
Reviewing activities of Jammu Development Authority and Housing Board, the Deputy Chief Minister exhorted for setting up new residential colonies in Jammu. He said that keeping in view growing urbanization, JDA as well as Housing Board needs to establish new colonies to provide better housing facilities. He called upon JDA and Housing Board authorities that special provision should be kept for weaker and economically backward sections while developing new residential colonies.
Reviewing the status of proposed multi-level parking in Jammu city, the Deputy Chief Minister was informed that the 'Letter of Expression' has been called for and proposals received are being securitized and feasibility report would be submitted to the government soon.
Director Information, Khawaja Farooq Renzu Shah, Special Secretary H&UDD, CEO SUIDA, Vice Chairman, JDA, Director Local Bodies, Jammu, Joint Director Planning, and senior officers of concerned departments were also present in the meeting.
