CM for revival of SRTC on war-footing basis | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 9: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said that his government would take every measure to provide strong edifice to State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) to flourish and become an economically viable unit. “We are working to revive SRTC on strong footing and help it to expand its field of operation to become an economically sound and professionally prosperous public undertaking”, he said and asked the functionaries of the Corporation to compliment the governmental efforts in this direction by putting in honest, dedicated and professional service. Addressing a function organized by the SRTC Union to felicitate Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah and convey the gratitude of the employees for the keen interest of the Chief Minister in reviving the corporation. Omar said that government would take further measures to expand orbit of operation of the Corporation in the state besides adding a new fleet of modern buses to existing one already provided to run the Corporation on profit and make good of losses incurred by it in past. Corporation was recently provided with a fleet of over 160 new and modern buses while as 100 more such buses are in pipeline. Chief Minister asked functionaries of the corporation to take best advantage of the help government was providing to make it a viable and profitable undertaking. “My government will take further steps to give you strength and make you able to ply on all routes in the State”, he said and expressed the hope that the SRTC buses would ply on National routes in due course of time. Omar Abdullah urged functionaries of the corporation to give their best to SRTC and make honesty and dedication the benchmark of their functioning. “You should work to earn name and make the Corporation popular among public by giving the best service”, he said adding that government would work with you at every level to help you to grow and become one of the best and viable transport corporations in the country.
