RMWC urge Div Com for opening of Rahgunath temple gates

Jammu, Nov. 10: A deputation of Raghunath Mandir Welfare Committee met Divisional Commissioner, Jammu under the leadership of Balwant Singh Mankotia MLA, state president Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party and submitted a memorandum regarding opening of closed gates of historic Shri Raghunath temple, vacation of Tara Sarai and other issues.
The delegations was joined by senior citizens of Jammu including different NGOs, social and various trade organizations, as they have already projected their grievances over the issue of closure of gates of Shri Raghunath temple, occupation of Tara Sarai by the security forces and closure of park inside the temple complex to the district administration time to time.
To maintain pressure on district administration for reopening of temple gates a committee namely Raghunath Mandir Welfare Committee has been constituted last week by the prominent people of Jammu.
Mankotia told the Divisional Commissioner that the above issues are agitating the minds of people of Jammu region in particular and pilgrims/devotees visiting the historic temple from other parts of the country.
He further said that if the administration fails to reopen the gates before 25th of November, the Mandir committee shall launch a agitation against the state government.
The deputationists have expressed their grave concern over the apathy of the district administration towards the religious sentiments of the Hindu community and the business interests of the traders of Jammu.
They further demanded that the gates of Shri Raghunath Mandir which were closed about eight years back due to security reason should be reopened for local public and religious pilgrims coming from different states of the country.
The Divisional Commissioner assured the deputationists that very soon the matter shall be taken up with police administration for the proper security arrangements and further assured that their other genuine demands shall also be considered.
