Natrang’s series ‘Theatre for Peace’ concludes

Poonch, Nov 10: WITH the presentation of Balwant Thakur’s multi-lingual play ‘Choona Hai Aasmaan’, a series of Natrang shows ‘Theatre for Peace’ concluded here today at the historic Krishan Chander Park, Poonch.
This revolutionary play of Natrang seeks peace for the prosperity, development and well-being of the people of Jammu & Kashmir. Packed with entertainment and highly motivational effective messages the play has been highly successful in sensitizing the whole Rajouri-Poonch region through electrifying power-packed professional performances by the Natrang actors.
Natrang started its traveling shows from Gool (Ramban) and successfully performed in Thathri, Kishtwar, Reasi, Nowshera, Rajouri, Thanamandi and Poonch.
In these areas, people hardly turn up for any public function but the magic and popularity of Natrang drew audiences and in all these shows over 60,000 people witnessed motivational
At each venue, the actors used the language of the region. This was the first occasion when people of Rajouri and Poonch watched a major theatre performance in Pahari, Gojri and Dogri apart from Hindustani.
The play opened with a chorus performance where they draw the comparison between developed world and the backward areas and try to find out the reasons of the backwardness and under development. Unfolding various situations, the play showcases the present scenario of the state where people are shown having indulged in petty issues, thus ruining the career and prospects of the younger generations. Here a youth is shown striving to achieve the best in life, but finds that man made hazards comes in his way which not only frustrates but, put him to a situation of dejection and depression. But the undeterred youngman pledges to fight the enemies of humanity who flair communal tensions, generate anti-nationals and destroy the peaceful environment.
He finds that the peace is the pre-requisite for the development and no religion preaches to fight with each other. A strong message of brotherhood, communal harmony and peace has been incorporated in such an artistic manner that it forces the audiences to realize the realities of this bitter truth. Such effective messages are not only going to stay in the minds of the spectators for life but they are bound to become the ambassadors of peace and harmony.
The artists who performed in the play included Dimple Sharma, Pankush Verma, Mohit Sharma, Rohit Verma, Tajasvi Sharma, Rajani Bhatti, Mohd. Yaseen, Vikram Sharma, Vasu Gupta, Kuldeep Mehra, and Ishfaq Anwar. Ashish Nijhawan an alumni of National School of Drama, New Delhi was the artistic presenter of the show .
