| Asgar flays Govt for encroaching into rights of legislators | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Kishtwar, Nov 10: November 10: Senior leader of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Sayed Asgar Ali, MLC today flayed the State Government for politcising official functions.
In a statement issued here today, Sayed Asgar Ali expressed his serious concern over ignoring him in the official function which was held today at Kishtwar in connection with the opening of the Satellite Campus of Jammu University. He said decision of the authorities to ignore in the function despite being the fact he is member of the Upper House and belongs to the principal opposition party was undemocratic and speaks volume about the authoritarian behave of the coalition government headed by NC.
He pointed out that when the local MLA was invited in the function, he to deserved to be called because he member of Upper House from the same area. He observed that authorities have been encroaching into democratic rights to the legislators while adopting pick and choose policy in inviting them in official function.
Asgar reminded that it was during the regime of PDP that this campus was sanctioned for Kishtwar district and he, as a member, has repeatedly taken up this issue in the Upper House.
He warned that such attitude of the state government would set wrong precedent in the State and it would destablise democratic system in the State.
He reminded that earlier on October 22, recruitment rally was held at Wardwan in which only workers of ruling NC were called and that official function was also hijacked by NC workers.
