Utterances of CM and Interlocutors
Balbir Ram11/10/2010 10:29:06 PM
It was just a month ago, that the Jammu and Kashmir State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, on the floor of the State Assembly at Srinagar on October 6 made controversial remarks on the accession of this part of the country with Union of India. He made an attempt to create confusion by stating that it was accession and not merger. What he said on the floor of the assembly invited widespread resentment and anger not only in Jammu and Kashmir but throughout the country. Dharnas and protest demonstrations were held, effigies of Omar Abdullah were burnt. Complete bandh was observed in Jammu on November 8, the day when Civil Secretariat reopened here in winter capital.

While the people were registering their protests and demanding his removal on what he said over the finality of accession, a very strange and unexpected situation was witnessed as the Union Home Minister, P. Chidambaram and Foreign Minister S.M. Krishna followed the line of Omar Abdullah and were seen in rat race to prove as to who among them was more concerned to endorse his stand on this vital, unquestionable and permanently settled issue.
The series of protests and resentment are still continuing when Omar Abdullah got totally exposed and his pro-separatist mindset unmasked when just few days ago there came another statement from him that Sayed Salahuddin be involved in talks for finding solution to the Kashmir Problem.
It is height of one’s approach towards his duty, commitment and responsibility towards his country, the constitution and nationalist credentials. Can it be taken as CM's innocence about the fact that Sayed Salahuddin is the Chief Commander of dreaded militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen (HM). Again, does our CM have no knowledge that HM militants have killed innocent civilians, have been attacking security forces camps and their vehicles. Presently, Sayed Salahuddin is running his militancy-related operations while sitting across the border, does this information need to be brought into the notice of Omar Abdullah. If he does not have any knowledge of the background and mission of HM, he is the most incapable for CM's chair and should be sacked.
It is not Omar Abdullah but the recently constituted 3-member team of interlocutors comprising of Daleep Padgaonkar, Radha Kumar and M.M. Ansari, too indulged in making pro-separatist and anti-national remarks. Just hours after their landing in Kashmir, Dalip Padgaonkar termed Kashmir as disputed and advocated involvement of Pakistan in resolving the (so-called) Kashmir problem. His colleague, M.M. Ansari, while interacting with some students told them to prepare a road map for "Azadi" and submit the same to them on their next visit to valley.
The team of these interlocutors had to face the opposition from many political and social organizations in Jammu for making such remarks. Keeping in view their utterances, many organizations announced to boycott these interlocutors. Having got irritated by their opposition, one of the interlocutor, Radha Kumar, said that in Valley the separatists did not meet them and in Jammu BJP did the same, and hence there is no difference between separatists and BJP. It was perhaps the most irresponsible statement. What can be expected from People like Radha Kumar, who can not differentiate separatists and the BJP. Can such persons suggests means and ways for solving any problem when they do not know what the separatists stand for and what is the ideology and principles of BJP.
The State Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the interlocutors, as being special representatives from the centre, both have derailed from their path to give another chance to the peace in the militancy torn state. As in this regard the centre is spending crores of rupees on these interlocutors, so it is their duty to do their work without any commentary, so that the much needed peace would be restored in state.
