Declaring open a week-long 'youth promotional cricket cup' for kids and children of police martyrs here this morning, he said while 60 youth had been detained under PSA in Kashmir, some others were still evading arrest and efforts were on to nab them too. The DGP said restoration of peace in the state was top priority and the strategy planned to tackle the Kashmir unrest "keeps changing as per the circumstances". "The law and order situation in Kashmir is being disturbed by some elements with active support of various separatist forces but our strategy to restore peace and maintain law and order keeps changing according to the situation," he added. Khoda said to maintain law and order, arrests were being made and timely review of detention undertaken. Regarding presence of active militants in the state, he said, "As per inputs, nearly 500 militants are operating in the state out of which 200 are active in Jammu region." Khoda said attempts to infiltrate into the Indian territory was a routine matter but the forces had done a tremendous job by neutralising most of the bids. He said forces had been asked to remain vigilant and work in coordination to deal effectively with all threats. |
