| Soz seeks extension in filing of tax returns | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, Nov 11:
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief and MP Prof Saifuddin Soz, has sought extension in the time period for filing of returns by the Tax payers of Kashmir region upto the end of December due to the long spell of bandhs and curfew in the valley.
Prof Saifuddin Soz has taken up the issue with Union Minister for Finance Pranab Mukherjee requesting him to extend the time period.
In a press statement issued here today, Prof Soz said “Many tax payers in Kashmir and, particularly the Income Tax Bar Association, had approached me to seek extension of filing of Income Tax returns till the end of December 2010, due to the fact that the valley had remained in turmoil in recent months.
“I had taken up this matter with Union Finance Minister who has informed through a letter that he is considering my proposal and a decision to this effect will be taken soon”, he added.
