Sikh body takes on Micky | | | Early Times Report Jammu: In politics sometimes even simple statements meant to be in favour of the community a leader belongs proves to be counterproductive and bounces back in undesired tone. That is what appears to be the case with Congress leader and acting Deputy Chairman of Legislative Council Amrinder Singh Micky whose statement with regard to safety of Sikhs has only invited sharp criticism from one of the organisations of the community. Micky while addressing a Sikh gathering at Sanat Nagar in Srinagar asserted that coalition government is committed to protect all sections of the society and that nobody will be allowed to disrupt peace and tranquillity in the state. Congress leader also dispelled any threat to the security of the Sikh community in Valley in the backdrop of some recent incidents of alleged harassment at some places, contending the community is living in perfect harmony with other communities in Kashmir. He said that he had visited the incident sites to personally take stock of the situation and claimed that members of the Sikh community had expressed satisfaction over their safety. However, All India Sikh students Federation today chose not to condemn but also condemn the statement of the Deputy Chairman of LC. The Sikh body has even attacked the Congress leader by saying that he doesn’t know the reality behind these incidents. Taking on Congress as a party the Federation has alleged it is ignorant of facts despite being in power at Centre and adopting anti Sikh policy , particularly by not taking cognizance of the facts. The Sikh body has further come down heavily on Amrinder Singh Micky alleging that he statement is not only false and misleading but against the interest of the community. All India Sikhs students Federation (Kashmir Wing) head Sarder Manjeet Singh Sodhi has ‘advised’ the Congress leader that instead of discussing on Kashmir issue should demand probe in the killings of Sikhs at Reasi (Jammu) and other parts of Jammu during 1984anti Sikhs rights. He has also demanded full probe into the recent incidents at Uplana, Huttamorah and Rajpura Tral.
