Tara Chand hails Azad for earmarking Rs 44 cr for 2 colleges in J&K | | | Early Times Report Jammu, November 11-Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand has appreciated the magnanimity of Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad for earmarking Rs 44 crore for two prestigious colleges in state. The Deputy Chief Minister said this while inaugurating double story Sulabh Toilet Complex at Government Medical College, Jammu here today. Minister for Youth Services and Sports and Medical Education R. S Chib and MLA Jammu West Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta were also present. The double story Sulabh Tiolet Complex has been constructed by Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA) at an estimated cost of Rs 55 lakh, and would cater to more than 40,000 people. Lauding the role of Economic Reconstruction Agency (ERA), Tara Chand said that the agency has laid 350 km long pipes in the city and its surrounding areas for augmenting existing water supply. One Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) has become functional and the work on second is apace ,he added. He said ERA has taken 25 Sulabh Complexes in hand in Jammu City for which Rs 2.58 crore were earmarked. Out of these 21 complexes have been completed and thrown open for public, while as work on remaining four complexes is in progress. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister for Medical Education R. S. Chib has said that Government is upgrading GMC and Associated Hospitals of Jammu. He said that the Sulabh Complex was urgent need in GMC which has now been fulfilled. He asked Director, ERA, to submit plan for construction of Sulabh Complex for Specialty Hospital which is coming up at Rashim Grah, Jammu adjacent to Bakhshi Nagar.
