Govt fail to implement poverty alleviation schemes in State: PDP | | | Early Times Report Billawar, November 11: Expressing concern over failure of the State Government to implement the schemes meant for the upliftment of rural people, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said that functioning of this regime appeared only on papers. Addressing a series of public meetings in Billawar and adjoining localities, PDP general secretary Thakur Balbir Singh said that Central sponsored schemes, which have been especially formulated for the development of the backward areas, have implemented only on papers. “Either these schemes have been politicized or implemented only on papers”, he said while responding to the large scale allegations about bungling in MNREGA and Indira Awas Yojan schemes in this belt. He pointed out that it was mandatory under this scheme to provide 100 days employment to each job card holder but in rural areas majority of the card holders have been roaming from one place to another to get employment. Shifting blames on the authorities for adopting casual approach towards this scheme, he said that this MNREGA was the revolutionary step to create job avenues for the people of rural areas but the State Government has been miserably failed to take benefits on this scheme which has been proved beneficial for poor people in other parts of the country. Thakur Balbir Singh warned to come on roads if coalition government to solve day today problems of the common masses. Party observed that during the last 22months, this dispensation has compounded woes of the people due to its wrong policies. He said that except promises this regime has done nothing to ameliorate lot of the people. He said that State has plunged into unprecedented crises due to failure of the government to address problems of the common masses. He mentioned that on the one hand people have been facing shortage of ration while on the other hand there is shortage of fertilizers in the rural areas. Residents of all regions of the state have been struggling to get basic amenities like drinking water, power and ration but the government seems to be non serious in solving these basic problems. Exhorting the party workers to expose mis-deeds of this regime, Thakur Balbir Singh regretted that National Conference has not learnt any lessons from its past mistake. He pointed out that promises made by the National Conference during the assembly elections remained only on papers. “Instead of fulfilling the commitment which the NC had made with the people during assembly elections, this government has been deceiving the people by making false statements”, he said and mentioned that the government had promised to give free ration to the draught affected people but this promise was also remained on papers.Sudesh Sapolia, Jagdish Singh, Indu Shekhar, Mir Singh, Rashpal Singh and others also addressed the meetings.
