Basantgarh fruit exhibition workshop gets huge response | | | Early Times Report Basantgarh (Udhampur), November 11
The Horticulture department organized an innovative fruit exhibition-cum-awareness workshop at Basantgarh here today. Sub Divisional Magistrate Dudu Basantgarh Amit Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion . SDM Amit Sharma visited all the stalls of fruits displayed in the exhibition and appreciated the efforts of local farmers and horticulture. Lots of fruits including apples, citrus products, walnuts of various varieties and local fruits were at display in the exhibition, majority of which were local produce in the Dudu Basantgarh Sub Division. A stall which drew special attraction was that of strawberry which is being promoted as a special cash rich fruit crop here which is to be followed by Kiwi fruit plantation in next few phases. Even some technical equipment was also at display/sale at subsidised rates for local fruit growers/farmers. Chief Horticulture Officer Udhampur, while acknowledging the proactive approach of SDM Shri Amit Sharma for successfully supporting the organization of such a useful camp at Basantgarh appreciated the lead taken by local fruit growers in creating huge fruit orchids in Dudu Basantgarh and he also informed public about various beneficiary programmes which are in execution at present including Technology Mission for NE & Himalayan regions, RKVY and other lucrative schemes through fruit growers in the area can be benefitted to the maximum. Various fruit growing farmers who have successfully planted various kinds of fruits such as apples, pears and other kinds of fruits in the area also shared their experiences with the fellow fruit growers and expressed their difficulties before the officers who assured to address them in a time bound manner. SDM Dudu Basantgarh Shri Amit Sharma, in his presidential address, motivated the fruit growers to come forward and move towards innovative farming by planting more cash rich fruit crops in future like Kiwi and Strawberry fruits in the coming days. He further assured that sub divisional administration is always ready to encourage and educate such farmers and send them on more exposure tours in future. Moreover, he directed Horticulture Development Officer Majouri to hold camp office for at least two days in Basantgarh every week so as to provide departmental support and guidance to fruit growers of the higher reaches of the Sub Division.
